By using United Africa Today you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Using the site

You may read, share links to and quote short extracts of our work with credit and a link back. You may not copy whole articles, scrape the site in bulk, interfere with its operation, try to break into accounts or systems, or use it for anything unlawful.

2. Accounts

Give accurate details and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at once if you think it has been misused. We may suspend accounts used for abuse or spam.

3. Memberships and payments

Memberships are fixed-term passes that give you the benefits shown when you buy. A pass does not renew automatically. Prices are shown at checkout, and payments are processed by Flutterwave. If a payment went wrong or you were charged in error, contact us with your payment reference and we will investigate and put it right.

4. Comments and what you post

You remain the owner of what you write, and you give us permission to publish and moderate it on the site. Be civil. Do not post hate speech, threats, harassment, private information about others, illegal content or spam. We may remove comments and accounts that break these rules, and we do not endorse reader comments.

5. Our content

The articles, images, audio and design on the site belong to United Africa Today or its licensors and are protected by copyright. Images carry their own credits and licences.

6. Accuracy and liability

We work to be accurate, but the site is provided “as is” and nothing on it is professional legal, medical or financial advice. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses from using the site or from links to other sites, and nothing here limits rights you cannot lawfully give up.

7. Changes

We may update these terms and will change the date below. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

United Africa Today is an African publication owned by the community. It was created with a conviction: the people should own their media and have a voice in the decisions that shape their lives.

Our purpose

Across Africa, people live with the consequences of decisions made by politicians and technocrats. We deserve to understand those decisions, question them and be heard. United Africa Today is a not-for-profit publication, a voice and a guide for the many Africans whose experiences too often receive too little attention. We all have a role to play. We all deserve to be informed.

Our scope reaches across the continent and across everyday life: public affairs, culture, sport, business, science, technology and the ideas that move our communities forward. Our purpose is to help people make sense of what matters, with reporting and opinions that connect events to human lives.

Owned by a community. Independent in its judgement.

We believe media should serve the public, free from the competing interests of politicians and powerful institutions. Our editorial direction belongs to our mission and the community we serve. Political pressure, donors, commercial interests and technology platforms should never dictate what we report or which voices deserve attention.

We want our relationship with readers to be direct. Google, Facebook and other platforms may help people discover our work, but their algorithms must not decide our editorial priorities. The people who seek honest information and thoughtful debate are the reason we exist.

Supported by readers

We raise funds through memberships and donations to sustain our work and protect our independence. Memberships are offered at different contribution levels, and members can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Support helps keep the publication accountable to its community; it does not buy control over our coverage.

We do not sell our users' personal data to advertisers. Readers are our community, and their trust deserves care.

What we stand for

We aim for clear, accurate and fair news, and opinions that are plainly identified, grounded in evidence and open to challenge. We stand for the freedom to publish without political censorship, to ask difficult questions and to let people speak about their realities. Independence also means checking facts, distinguishing allegations from established findings and correcting mistakes.

Our commitment is to pursue the truth without favour, make room for different perspectives and give readers the information they need to form their own judgement. This is a shared endeavour, built around a simple belief: an informed Africa has a stronger voice.
